i found what looks like a dead cleaner shrimp, now i'm a little confused cause the cleaner shrimp i have is twice the size.  i came home from work to find snails eating this thing.  it was half the size of my cleaner shrimp, so when i took it out it fell apart but, it had long tenicles like the cleaner shrimp & was the same color red as mine.  Now i don't know if this was a mantis shrimp, i have been hearing clicking sounds now for over 3 months.  Unless mantis shrimps have long tenicles.  i googled mantis & it didn't look like what i found.  Anyone have any idea what i found?

i found my answer on another forum but  one of them was laughing cause they thought my question was stupid. So glad i amused him!  You know that's what forum's are for to ask questions.   Anyway it's probably a molt, apparently cleaner shrimp molt every 2 weeks so i was told.

The question was not stupid at all. It does sound like a molt to me. The cool part about the molts is that if you are careful taking them out you can dry them and preserve them. Then you have a very cool conversation piece! Speaking of a mantis, I have had one (not intentionally) for a very long time. I rarely see him but the other day I didn't find one of his molts! Crazy. I have not added rock in years so he must have been there for at least that long but just finding the molt now. He is a spooky little guy. Very hard to spot!
